We saw an otter!

We saw an otter!, originally uploaded by misspudding.

Anthony and I went to the beach in the rain (it was still fun) and we saw a sea otter! I've seen them down in California and in Alaska when we went on our honeymoon, but I don't think I've ever seen them at the beach by our house.

Larry took a trip to Alaska today, for work, and he says it's sunny and no rain up there. It's about ten degrees warmer here, but I think the rain probably makes it about equal in terms of comfort. He's back on Wednesday and hopefully, he'll have some interesting photos from Ketchikan.

Happy Monday!

Anthony on film

Anthony on film, originally uploaded by misspudding.

Larry has owned a Minolta XG-M (old SLR camera) for several years. I decided I wanted to play around with it, as a hobby. So, while the first roll was not really a success, I'm proud to say I can now remember how to use a manual SLR camera again!

It's a little more time-consuming, a little more frustrating sometimes, but ultimately much more exciting. It's like Christmas after each roll!

Anthony burrito

Anthony burrito, originally uploaded by misspudding.

We've been trying to stay warm and have fun while the weather's been cold and yucky.

Part of this "trying to have fun" has involved letting Anthony play with my old field camera that has had way too much abuse, in general. The camera itself is only about three years old, but it's been dropped, scratched, had many dings put into it, and the internal lens cover was sheared off (by Anthony). So, since we have other cameras, the "takes a licking and keeps on ticking" camera is all his. He loves taking photos!

He's been enjoying it and we've all had a little fun in the process.

Tomorrow is our big Superbowl party and we're looking forward to it!
